rate my health

Rate my health. I scored 6 out of 10 yes, and one "mostly".
The mostly was the diet area. My family's diet is notoriously lacking in vegetables. We take multi-vitamins and eat lots of fresh fruit. The veggies we consume are mostly frozen corn or broccoli and canned green beans. My ideal would be to have salads and fresh veggies daily. It's been an easy habit to loose and it's proving more difficult to re-establish than I thought. I was just shy of a vegetarian when I met my "meat and potatoes" husband. Though I've had significant influence on him, I'm afraid he's won out on the meat. I did get him drinking water which is something his mother never did. HA!
I believe that for the most part I'm on the right track health wise. I could definitely improve in the areas of diet, sleep, and more consistent exercise. With three kids it's very difficult to maintain in all of those areas, and it's all the more important that I do, for their sake!

I think six out of ten is a fairly good score because most people may not even score that high. Also, vegetables are a very important of the diet. Recently, I have heard that multi-vitamins contain drugs and chemicals that can cause potential harm to the individuals taking them. The best way to maintain a diet is to eat balanced meals.

Veggies….I swear almost every man I know is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. I have the same problem as you when it comes to serving my family vegetables. I love every vegetable under that sun. I even like brussel sprouts and spinach. One thing that I do that my husband thinks is completely gross is I love frozen vegetables. I do not cook them at all. For a snack I will just grab a paper towel pour some frozen carrots and sugar snap peas in it and I am good to go.

Also I think that keeping up with three kids is probably pretty close to exercise, especially if they are younger.

A 6 of 10 sounds pretty good! Your diet does not appear to be all that bad. With 3 kids to feed and keep interested in good food choices it must be hard to find time to think. Eating lots of fruit is definitely a good thing. For many people this is completely left out. Number one it is so…expensive these days. It is hard to justify for many families.

I know when my kids were all at home we seemed to eat lots of broccoli and green beans but they ate it and we managed. Frozen petite peas were a favorite and they often ate them frozen before I could get them cooked. We never cook them in a pot as long as the package states, we just microwave in a small amount of water to soften – Yum. Another fun choice was stir fry vegetables. We still eat lots of them over rice. Sometimes we use meat and other times just lots of brown rice. I used to try something new once a month or so just to make me take the time to plan. If even one of them liked it -I felt like I had succeeded.

Sounds like you are on the right track with your efforts. But most importantly you are doing what you do for the right reasons – You sound like a great mom to me!
